Here’s a long lost photo of Eddy Arnold with an unknown child. Note the title of the magazine as well as Wanda Jackson on the cover and Buck Owens on the back.

Back in the 80s, my friend and I took a trip to Nashville, and then took a tour bus to see all the stars homes. The driver must have fed us a line of bull, because when we went by Eddy Arnold’s home, he said, “Eddy planted all those trees, because his son, Brent, was in a terrible wreck, which left him in a wheel chair, so he planted these trees to keep the public from staring at him when he was outside.” Then he continued, This is Brentwood, and named for this son, and Arnold Palmer is designing this golf course for Eddy, which was right across the stree from his house. So, all these years I have believed this bunch of lies!!! I have never read that Eddy had a son named Brent. Eddy Arnold is my favorite artist, and I still have 13 of his albums.

    • Hazel,

You’re right about the bus driver being full of some bull. While it’s true my uncle, whose name is Richard Edward Arnold, Jr., was in a terrible wreck, those trees were never planted to block sight of him. That’s hilarious that the driver claimed Brentwood was named after him. Brentwood, TN has been around since the late 18th Century/early 19th Century although not incorporated until 1969. and is named after the town in England. The golf course was built for Richland Country Club, a club that had relocated from the West End area of Nashville that needed to expand. My grandparents were members of the original club but not the one that was relocated across the street. My grandmother did enjoy collecting golf balls that ended up in their yard though! Wow, sounds like you had a driver with quite the imagination! Thanks for being such a fan and for visiting the website- R. Shannon Pollard
